I bought flaxseed meal last kickstart and don't remember what to do with it. Any suggestions?

Sprinkle it on your oatmeal or cereal, add it to your smoothies, or mix it with a little water to use as egg replacer in recipes. If I'm adding it to something I don't want to really thicken, I add it last so it doesn't have time to gel up.

I sprinkle it over my salads and add to soups at the very end. Sometimes just sprinkle over my steamed veggies with a little dressing.

I use it in place of eggs, but have added it to oats and smoothies

or add it to pancakes or baked goods for some 'hidden' goodness - can't really tell it's there in a blueberry muffin taste or texture wise but the good stuff is still there --Deb R

These are all great suggestions and you'll find many more. However, w/flax products you need to be aware of the shelf life. I have found that the most stable form is as a seed. It can be found in some specialty stores in bulk & often organically grown to boot! If you have a coffee grinder it is the easiest way to grind them for easy use. I'll grind about 4 heaping Tsp full in the am to use in my family's b-fast or snacks for the day. It ends up being about 2 servings ground flax for each of them & they never even know! Hahaha! My husband likes the hint of nutty flavor in his coffee too! Enjoy! Heidi

Thanks for all the great ideas on how to use my flaxseed. Making a stir fry tonight, maybe I'll sprinkle some on mine and see what I think.

We actually killed our old coffee grinder by using it for seeds so much. So we bought a better one that can do coffee but is targeted at seeds and nuts. hmm wonder if I should add that to the kitchenware thread... --Deb R
