Hi All,

Any suggestions on how to get around a sesame allergy particularly given the meal plan seems to use quite a bit of hummus.

Thanks

You could probably use a different nut or seed butter other than tahini - something like cashew butter or almond butter would be mild enough to not change the flavor; peanut butter could work but that's a much stronger flavor.

Oh gosh.. there are soooo many flavors of hummus.. no need to make it with sesame. Make some red pepper hummus. Black olive hummus, plain hummus w/lemon juice, garlic hummus....

It is super simple to make your own or find ones without sesame. (tahini)

hummus is a generic term. you can make all kinds of tasty spreads, using edamames, white beans ,lentils, etc. I think the kickstart uses hummus because it's available just about everywhere. you don't have to follow the meal plan religiously.

I make a no oil version without tahini, one of Bob Harper's recipes. It's yum!

Just leave out the tahini. I have a friend that is allergic to sesame seeds also. When I make it for her I just add a little more soy sauce and leave out the tahini.
