I am 34, long time vegetarian, and diabetic for apprx 10 years. I am currently being treated with Victoza and Metformin and quite frankly am tired of being medicated hince the kickstart. As of day 1 I have stopped my meds and thus far have had excellent blood sugars. Wish me luck !

I have been a type 1 diabetic for 34 years. I'm lucky, I have no complications. Still, the last few years have been difficult and I have put on about 20-30 pounds. My doctor recommended this program because I already eat a similar diet. Stress is a killer and I'm looking forward to getting back into a regular exercise program.

Anyone having problems with low blood sugars when they exercise? My nurse told me about cliff shots and I find that they work very well.

Hey Red,
I am a runner ( marathon and half marathons) and I dont get sugar lows but instead I get highs. However, post run this morning my sugar was 125...woohoo ! Instead of the cliff shots I would recommend chocolate #9 energy gel. http://www.chocolateenergygel.com/

•is sweetened only with organic agave.
•contains no refined sugar or other HIGH glycemic index sweeteners.
•has been – tested and certified – as a “LOW” glycemic index (GI) item.
•Chocolate #9 LOW GI gel reduces the negative effect of repetitive insulin “spiking” during sustained exercise.
•won’t cause a sugar high or a sugar low – bonk.
•is an excellent energy choice for endurance athletes.
•is suitable for most diabetics – and used by Team Type 1.
•is an excellent choice for those not wanting to eat refined sugar.
•is vegan, low fat and gluten free.
•contains no synthetics – no unpleasant aftertastes – tastes great.
•contains no “mystery” ingredients, colorings, or preservatives.
•is easy on the stomach.
•best of all — Chocolate #9 tastes great.
I use chocolate #9 on my long runs and love it !
