Does this feel like a permanent change to you?

For those of you who transitioned to a vegan diet for health and/or weight loss reasons, does this feel like a permanent change to you?

I ask because anytime I've gone on a "diet," I've never been quite sure that it would stick. I've always held on to my clothes in larger sizes "just in case." This just feels different though. Maybe because it's not a diet? I've dropped a size so far and I'm very comfortable with the idea of packing up the clothes that are too big now and just getting rid of them.

Anyone else feeling the same way? That this isn't a diet, it's a permanent change?

I look at this as a lifestyle. My main purpose is to gain health. Losing weight is just a bonus.

Yes - it definately feels like a perminent change for me and I can't imagine going back to my previous way of eating. My primary purpose was and still is health - which happens to include weight loss as I am overweight. I just turned 50 years of age and although there are no promises, I want to have as healthy a future as I can manage.

I don't think of being vegan as a diet and agree with the word 'lifestyle'. To me diets have always equated with feeling deprived of something. I do not feel deprived in any way and my food/recipe choices have grown significantly. Prior to being vegan I tended to cook/eat the same few things week after week and was not adventurous about trying new things. Now I have a much bigger interest in food, nutrition, cooking and trying new things.

THis is permanent for me.. I am loving it.. and VERY surprised on how easy it is.

I am even doing a short healthy eating program here at my library this summer for children and their parents.. I can't wait!

We deviated a bit over our vacation last week and when we got home, hubby and I both realized that we weren't feeling as "comfortable" as when we stick with it so we're back to it as of today. So, yeah, it's pretty permanent as a lifestyle change. Tonight's dinner: black quinoa and chickpea pilaf with braised rainbow chard!
