Finally noticed some weight loss today!
Posted Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 9:49 AM
I've lost more than a pound. It's not much, but it's progress! Since I only had about ten to fifteen pounds to lose, it's much more difficult.

I hope you all keep checking in. My weight loss is holding ... I was down another pound yesterday, it's back on today but that's the way it goes with me. It will come and go for awhile until my weight decides to take another dip.

My 'gauge' is not the day to day (even though I weigh myself each morning) but whether it stays under the previous benchmark. For example, for the longest time, I hovered between 185-188. By the end of September (when the kickstart ended), I was hovering around 178-181. Up or down a pound depending, I was still below the previous benchmark. Now I'm working on getting below that 178 lower end. And again, I know it'll fluctuate up and down about a 3 lb range, but I aim to have the higher end at or below the previous low end. And bit by bit, the range is dropping. My short term goal is to maintain what I've attained until my mid November doctor's appointment so I can compare their records (what I was three months ago to what I am that day). If I get lower by then (which it will if I 'behave'), that's great. Then, I'll aim to go another 5-10 lbs before the next 3 month follow up, and so on. Little by little, until I reach my goal and work on just maintaining that level in the end. I'm also curious to find out what hubby weighs in at in his appointment next week. He's making calzones tonight - fresh whole wheat flour homemade dough with broccoli and mushrooms, organic no sodium added tomato sauce, homemade pesto (yes, that has parmesan - we made it back in the summer before the kickstart), and vegan ricotta that he's making today (almond and nutritional yeast based). --Deb

I don't use the day to day weight either but like bugsmom I do weigh daily. On the 25th of each month I weigh and write it down...and measure. My monthly loss has gone down steadily each month but I'm still losing. In fact, I'm at 4 pounds from my self-determined goal which is at the center of the BMI chart for my height. Since I've been losing 2-4 pounds per month since January (my 1st Kickstart) I know it will take another 2 or so months to get where I want to be. And that's okay because I know I'm eating great, eating lots (very important to me) and feeling the best I've ever felt--and I'm 63. And most important, I'm not going to go "off of a diet" and gain it all back. This is the way I'm eating forever. Linda

By itself, it was a bit more obvious that it wasn't dairy ricotta but mixed in with the mushrooms and broccoli and tomato sauce, it was excellent. The texture was good - doesn't quite get as gooey as ricotta does but close enough for calzone filling. That means that hubby can still make his famous spinach lasagna...but vegan!

Sounds good! Phillies game tonight - bringing pizza to my niece's. I'll get them their regular cheesy pizza. For my hubby and me, it will be cheeseless and loaded up with veggies.
