"limit starch" - limit high glycemic carbs and fats if you're heading toward insulin resistance. But then again the whole kickstart is exactly targeted to that anyhow (since diabetes is one of the target areas healthwise). It's a matter of taking all these good "allowable" foods and adjusting the portion size and maybe removing a few items (for instance, potatoes are my nemesis though I love them dearly).

Yes, I'm aware of that, Deb. However, I'm already eating a diet of only whole grains, unprocessed carbohydrates, low-glycemic foods, unsaturated fats and limited amounts of fruit – and still showing symptoms. I assure you that my nutrition and health are being well-addressed by my medical team, thank you.

Molly - I wasn't saying you didn't know that information but there are lots more folks reading this than you and me. apologies Sad

Not to mention that genetics plays a part, as does the ability to exercise (if I exercise regularly the way I know I need to, my glucose levels stay pretty decent, but if I waver, it drifts pretty quickly). Sometimes, no matter what we do, or don't do, stuff happens because 250 yrs ago something in our familial DNA drifted a little one way or the other.

You're right that other people are reading, good point. But also a good reason to not commandeer Madcat's thread about testosterone (again, in my case). Wink

Many reasons for insulin resistance, many reasons for diabetes. In my case, the IR is probably related to portion size, to exercise, to several years of uncontrolled hypoglycemia, to autoimmune disorders... to many reasons. I wish it were so simple as "eat this, don't eat that." I'd be a happy girl.

That's fine. I was hoping for Susan's input but I think I got the jist of it.
