avocado, seeds and nuts

After looking through some books by the authors that are listed here and on some other vegan sites, I have noticed that most avocate not eating avocado (or much of it) seeds and nuts as they are high fat. Is this just for weight control? Alot of the recipes use nuts and seeds. Confusing to say the least.

And in the online chat with Marilu Henner last week, she said she eats 1/2 an avocado every day, and that nuts and seeds are very important in a vegan diet. I am assuming that people trying to lose weight and/or with heart disease should eliminate these foods or reduce them to a minimum, but that if you do not have these issues that they are OK, in moderation, of course. Is that correct? I do not recall that we were instructed not to use avocado, nuts, and seeds in the 21-day kickstart, but another post on another thread said that we weren't supposed to be eating them. I am a little confused too. Confused

PCRM suggests staying away from them, since they still contain fat.

However, I think the majority of health professionals lean the way of the following:

For those who don't know, Virginia Messina is a highly respected vegan Dietitian and author, and is considered an authority on vegan diets.

I certainly don't want to disagree with PCRM on their own message board, because I think the 10% fat approach can be very successful for weight loss, but for finding a permanent way of living that gives one the best opportunities at health, there are certain fats that are necessary in the diet, most obviously the Omega 3s and 6s, which are available in flaxseed and walnuts.

Here's another great resource, which is more involved:
