Hey, I'm here too.

And I think there's been lots of posts since last Sunday by the way.

Plans for the weekend. Well, I've got the house all to myself this weekend, so I'm probably gonna practice my dance moves and sell some more of my flatmate's cigars. How bout you ??

I've been around a bit but hello back to you all.

It's Saturday morning here and raining. I think I might dress up in ugly clothes and walk the dogs anyway, then head to my Moms for lunch. She is cooking and I am introducing her to vegan gravy.

Did I tell you we went to lunch together at my local vegan restaurant and she loved it? Thought the food was wonderful and said she will go there again. My mom is not vegan or even vegetarian but she isn't a 7-day a week meat eater either. While I won't try to "convert" her at aged 82, all healthy meals are a bonus.

Converting someone....not an easy thing to do..I have been vegetarian for over 25 years - so when I met hubby he was well aware - not until about 2 years ago have I tried to eat animal free.....my husband STILL a meat eater. I have two kids one like daddy and one like mommy....will I ever convert the boys?

Have a great weekend everyone!

Maybe, maybe not. Neither hubby or son would identify themselves as vegan - yet 94% of what they eat each week is vegan (with the other 5% vegetarian - cheese mostly - and that 1% averages out times we eat elsewhere where they might pick fish or chicken).

I asked DS when I was making the last grocery list if he wanted me to pick up some tuna (we were out and it was on special). He said nope, as long as we have chickpea salad, he's fine (looks, tastes, texture very similar to tuna BTW - hubby coarsely ground the cooked chickpeas, added chopped onion and celery, a bit of vinegar, agave and mustard and YUM!) He's been getting over a cold and last night, when he got hungry, he checked our nutrition chart (greenleafy.org) and sought out the foods that were healing, immune boosting - red grapes and chickpea salad.

I don't know that they'd ever identify as 'vegan' but they both enjoy eating this way and understand the health/nutrition aspects and they can choose for themselves. I *know* that I'll never "convert" them because that sort of change needs to be their choice, not my doing.

Oceandog, I am jealous. We are having a "wintry mix" here.

This weekend we are doing house planning. We are attempting to choose flooring, cabinets, and countertops for our new house. We also need to move many downed trees (good exercise hubby tells me when I say that I need to workout. My 5-year-old wants to make Happy Herbivore's chicken nuggets. She saw them on the website and thought they would be fun to make. She really wants to see if they fool her meat-eating dad. She asked me several times today if it was time to make them, but the day was too full. Hopefully sometime this weekend. She also just loves to cook, and has been very willing to try new things. btw happyherbivore.com looks like a great website. I wanted to try several recipes as soon as I saw them. Great pics to go with each recipe.

Hi cathyB

I liked HappyHerbivores web site enough to buy the book. While a lot of recipes overlap, I am old and like a book in the kitchen Very Happy. Great book! Haven't tried the 'chicken nuggets' yet so I will be interested to know what your family thinks when you try them.

Plan for today: watch the heavy rain, eat, read, watch sports on TV.

Plan for tomorrow: watch the heavy snow, eat, read, watch more sports, shovel snow.

Its been raining here all day too.

I have been busy with my job. I just celebrated 2 months of eating vegan. Prior to kickstart I ate chocolate, and fast food hamburgers every day. Haven't had one piece of chocolate since and don't crave it. The vegan foods are delicious, satisfying, and filling.
