Best way to store rutabagas?
Posted Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 1:25 PM

Hi all,

I recently bought a bag of organic rutabagas. It's something I haven't eaten much of before, and I'm not sure of the best way to store them.

Would I treat them the same way I would potatoes, for example? (ie: store them in a cool, dry place out of direct light, but NOT in the fridge), or would I treat them more like other root vegetables like carrots, which I always store in the fridge?

I bought this bag of rutabagas about two days ago and so far I haven't stored them in the fridge - hopefully they'll still be good! I'm planning on roasting some of them and adding a little dried dill (and maybe a little bit of olive oil).

I got some at the farmers market once, and they sat on my counter for a while before I got the courage to prepare them. I think they will be fine!

Yay -thanks!! Very Happy

I think I'll try chopping some of them into wedges and roasting them today. I found a recipe for tofu-based sour cream and I'll try pouring that over them, maybe with some dried dill added.
