Hope you're still there

One last question for this session - when I was diagnosed with diabetes (Feb 21) - I started the Vegan diet from Dr. Barnard's book. The nurse said I was to take the A1C in one month - I told her I would not take it so soon after the last one - she scheduled an A1C for March 30th - Do you think I should wait another month since it gathers its results from 8-12 weeks prior to test? I have lost 20 lbs since the start of Dr. Barnard's program (Feb 23) but still wonder if I should wait another month before getting my numbers again. What do you and those you talk to think? Your consideration of this question is greatly appreciated - assuming you are still there.

The way I see it, information is power, so taking it now won't hurt you, but give you more info to work with. You know how you've been eating/exercising/medicating for the past 6-8 weeks, so the number will give you more data, and you can test again in a while.

Hi Jasmine - I was also sent for a second AIC a few weeks after my first one and the reason was to confirm the diagnosis of diabetes. (that was a year ago January). I can tell you that my usual 3-month AIC came just after starting the first Kickstart and I went in for the test on the 11th day of starting the Jan. program. Myy number had dropped from 6.4 to 6.0. I credit the program for the improvement.

Go ahead and do the AIC now. It can't hurt - and as Serene said, you will have more info to work with.

Cheers!
