RE: Cause and effect

Very, very interesting, Glenna, and very good point for those struggling to lose weight...not that we must all give up potatoes and rice, but that we must pay attention to our own bodies and use a little "diet" common sense. None of us want to have to "diet"...we all want to just eat healthy, be healthy, and be slim..but you still have to adjust, if you want to lose weight. And at least for me....as much as I hate to admit it....the carbs definitely enter into this. If one is hugely overweight, and eats a terrible SAD, just going low-fat vegan should result in some major weight loss. But once you get close to your goal weight, i.e. those "last 5-10 lbs", it gets tricky. McDougall says eat all the starches, but NO oil,or added fat, and that does seem to work for some. For me, though, and I admit this just is easier for me, more fruits, veggies, beans, and less carbs works. And no sugar! A "cause and effect" food for me? Popcorn! Go figure. I will always be up on the scale the next day, after a bowl, even with no salt or butter.
