I have be following the plan and have been doing very well. Everyday at lunch at work someone brings in cookies or cake or candy. I (surprizingly) have been able to say no! My problem is that my family are not huge fans of tex mex spices. So many of the recipes have cumin, chili powder chili peppers.

I am looking for a more Mediterranean flavor. In the past many of my favorite recipes started with sauteing garlic and onion in olive oil. I know that the olive oil is out now, but I am just sick of chili flavor.

Just switch out the spices. Use garlic, oregano, thyme or basil instead. I love fresh rosemary on potatoes or cooked with pasta dishes and soup. My hubby is not a huge fan of cilantro, but I have found if I just use less it still has the flavor but not as strong. "Simply Organic" makes an Italian Seasoning that is versatile, can be used on almost anything and is delicious.

Tarragon is an underused spice in my opinion. But it gives bean dishes a great "sweet" flavor that I really like!
