Egg in Pasta, Bread, etc.

I am preping to start the 21 Day Kickstart - just thinking ahead - what about breads, pasta, etc. that might be made with egg (bagels too). Is the amount of egg used so small as to not worry about it?

Most breads, pasta, and bagels don't require egg. If you're aiming to eat totally vegan, then any amount of egg is an issue. We make all of them ourselves from time to time and never use egg. It's not all that hard to find grocery store products as well that don't contain egg. You'd have to specifically look for egg noodles, egg bagels, and egg breads to get that - for example, challah, I believe, is an egg containing bread. By and large, there's no egg used or needed for any of it.

It's your choice - do you want to stick closely vegan or are you more comfortable being somewhere in the vegetarian range (where eggs and dairy are included)? If you're looking to do this vegan kickstart, your preparation would likely want to include checking your favorite products for egg, dairy, fat content, fiber content, and where needed, find alternatives.

I agree with Bugsmon. It is your choice how strict you want to be.

Prior to kickstart I was vegetarian but have become vegan and vegans by definition don't eat eggs and dairy. For me, egg as a stated ingredient in any product is out, as is milk/dairy. I have learned to read labels on packaged foods.

I do sometimes eat products that have a label saying "may contain... (milk / eggs / nuts etc) as often this is a warning rather than a specific indgredient. It means the product has been manufactured in the same processing plant as a product that does have this as an ingredient.
