Hi Lani.....I have been reading lots of information about being vegan and building muscle......It's confusing. How can I change my body composition? My fat to lean muscle is too high. I don't want to lose anymore weight but I do want to lose more fat. I am working out six days a week and I'm totally vegan. Any advice?

Hey blalonde,

I see your question is posted 3 times - yet somehow I missed each one! I found this on page 2 of the forums and sorry it took awhile to get back to your question.

I don't know what you have been reading so not sure what you might need clarification about regarding your readings. You want to lose fat weight and keep your muscle? Build more muscle?

I also don't know what you are doing to work out, though it sounds like you are getting some activity in each day.

First, take a look at the diet to see what may be causing you to hang on to body fat stores. All vegan diets are not created equal and if the diet is high in fat, then you will be stopped from losing fat stores unless you have a calorie deficit overall. Eliminating expelled oils and limiting high fat plant foods as well as avoiding processed foods always gets you moving in the right direction.

Second, for your activity, Burst Training can be a good way to mix it up along with some kind of resistance training. Change up your workout every 4 - 6 weeks to keep your body guessing a little as well.

Here are several blog posts that may offer you some insight as well; A search for "can you out train a bad diet" brings up several posts:

Not to imply that your diet isn't optimal, as I have no idea what it's like other than vegan. Very Happy

Hope this helps! Let me know if I can be of further assist.
