Okay guys, I need your help, who has a recipe for the ultimate Vegan VEGGIE burger?? preferably simple to make.

I am going to try the black bean one Ive seen on a post on here.

But I need something simple and healthy with taste!

KG’s Favorite Black Bean Patties

½ Onion ½ Green Pepper
1-15oz can Black Beans, drained & Rinsed
1 tsp Red Hot Sauce
1 ½ tsp Egg Replacer stirred into 2 TBS water
½ tsp Cayenne Pepper
1 ¼ cup Panko Bread Crumbs

Place onion & green pepper in food processor.
Pulse 2 or 3x to get tiny chunks.
Put onions & green pepper in big bowl.

Next put in Black beans, hot sauce, prepared egg replacer & cayenne in food processor. Mix till mush.

Put bean mixture into bowl w/ onion & pepper.
Add bread crumbs, mix.

Form into 4 patties. Bake on pizza stone or silacone oven matt (silpat) at 425 abt. 20 min. (Same temp & time as French Fries.)

another easy...Jeff Novick's Bean Burgers

~ 2c. cooked or one can Kidney Beans
1 cup Cooked Brown Rice
1/2 Cup Frozen Mixed Veggies, Thawed
1/4 Cup Regular Oats
(or 1/8 cup cornmeal as a binder)
2 TBS Salsa (or ketchup)
Garlic Powder

Mash Beans.
Mix in all other ingredients.
Mix well and form patties.
Let chill overnight.
Grill, bake or broil burgers till done.

I'm not sure which recipe you are talking about, but here is my favorite black bean burger recipe. I hope it is not the one that you already have. I found this recipe in Rip Esselstyn's Engine 2 Diet Book. Note that I play around with the ingredients - use fresh tomatoes and a jalapeño pepper instead of canned tomatoes...use onion instead of onion powder...etc. Just be sure to use the quick rolled oats. They stick together better than other oats.

1 can black beans - rinsed and drained
1 can tomatoes with zesty mild chilies - drained
1 garlic clove - minced
1 tsp onion powder
2 green onions - chopped
1 cup chopped carrots
1 cup parsley or cilantro
2 cups quick rolled oats

Process all but oats in a food processor. Place contents in a bowl and add oats. Form into patties and place on baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes then turn oven up to broil and cook for 2 to 5 more minutes until tops are browned.

Something key to a good veg burger is what you put it on - because veg burgers tend to be 'softer' than meat varieties, it really needs a good 'sturdy' platform. We usually put our black bean patties on homemade whole wheat bagels, for example. Hearty type breads or rolls are good - but even whole grain or multi grain breads are not always 'dense' enough to provide that extra bit of chewing. Sometimes, toasting or lightly grilling the bread product can help as well.

A cookbook called The Vegetarian Grill (obviously, not totally vegan recipes so check things) has a bunch of veg burger recipes that they tested out on non-veg folks to see which were most acceptable to the widest range of people (which makes it good when having a social gathering around the outdoor grill). Lots of interesting tips and tricks in there - even if you take some of the info and adapt it to your personal favorite recipe(s).
