It is my birthday and I choose vegan gluten free.

Today is my birthday and I am going to request that hubby and I go out to eat at a restaurant that has vegan/gluten free food that I can eat. They also have fish and other things he can eat. It is not his favorite place to eat, but hey, it is my vegan birthday, right!! Ha....he is good about going along with me.
It is out on the coast so the drive will be nice. I am getting bored with my choices in the small town I live in.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! WOO HOO!! Very Happy

Always offer kindness and a soft word to the beings around you; You do not know their journey. Your words can be the hug they need or the shove that breaks them.

This is awesome!!! Happy Birthday, and how cool that you chose HEALTH and HAPPINESS for yourself! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

It *is* difficult in small towns, but you have the right attitude – be willing to travel. I wonder if also, some of the mom-and-pop restaurants in your town would be willing to add a menu item that would cater to your needs? Perhaps if you helped them develop it, or gave them some background information on the health aspect and how delicious vegan food can be. Can't hurt to ask! Smile

Happy Birthday!

Hi Oceandog and everyone,

To answer your question about the name of the restaurant, it is in Cambria. It is call Robins' I had the Red curry tofu. It was served with brown rice and a ginger cucumber salad. Very good. It was so creamy I asked the waitress if it was in fact vegan. She said, yes, it was made with coconut milk.....so good.

Also it was Meatless Monday!!!! They had a separate menu just for us vegans/vegetarians/gluten free peeps.

The table next to us was eating beef....oh my gosh...I couldn't look!!!

I am also posting this on the post link, just in case we have others interested.

I am going to miss this site. It is my 2rd time around I think. Maybe 3rd. But I have been vegan since March of 2010. I would not go back.

Also I have tried to get one restaurant that I frequent to add tofu to their menu. I even suggested some dishes to add, and to try other restaurants that do have tofu. I will keep trying.
