Does it have a shelf life? I have some that is months old. It was from a bulk bin, so no label. Pam

Pam Probably does, no idea what it might be - we've never had any that lasted more than a month or so in the fridge. We've gotten much better over time at gauging how much we go through in a month so that we don't have lots of it sitting around. --Deb R

Well, mine has been in the pantry not the fridge. Didn't know it needed to be refrigerated! (That also was not indicated on the bulk bin!!) Pam

Pam We just 'assumed' that fridge would be a good idea - bulk bin didn't say anything (and it isn't refrigerated either). I don't think the fridge hurts it any and might help so we figured to err (if err we did) on the side of cooler is better for storing it. Whether it's necessary or not is another story. --Deb R

I bought mine from a health food store that was fridged, so I just keep mine in the fridge. Since, most places have it in bulk containers, I think it just needs to be in a dry, cool place. I think I have heard a little over a year is the shelf life.

Thanks for the input. I purchased it in my regular grocery store which has a fair whole foods department, but my experience is that they person in charge of that department doesn't know much. Theodore...didn't taste it but it smells the same. Pam

a quick search of the web said one year to 18 months if stored in a cool dry place. also it seemed like it didn't go bad, just lost it's nutrients over time.

Mine doesn't sit around long enough to find out. I use it a lot in soups and other recipes, kale chips, etc. Never heard about refrigerating it, though, and never did. Just kept in the pantry.
