I was just wondering if you all take B12 supplements?
When I I vegan before I did. My vegan coach suggested it.
But I haven't been this time. Maybe that's why I feel a bit peckish. Thought? Comments welcome. Confused

I do, though I'll admit to not being very regular about it.

I bought some B12 too but,as with other supplements including my metformin (diabetes meds) I am near hopeless at being consistent in taking any of them.

I've had a respiratory "thing" going on since March 3 - cough, then I'm better, then it's back, then I'm better, then it's back (like right now!) - and have wondered if it's because I'm not getting enough of something in my diet (try to eat lots of fruit, veg. etc. but when I'm not feeling well I'm not great about eating the right food due to lack of appetite or lack of energy to make something healthy). I got the H1N1 flu shot this year on advice of my doc (due to diabetes) - first flu shot I've ever gotten - and I have been sicker than I've been in years. Won't be doing that again!

And should have mentioned that workmates etc. just love to point out my ongoing illness is due to not eating meat, dairy, fish oils etc.

Mariberry-now THAT is funny! I have friends that watch me like a hawk to find some slip up. I bounce between LMAO and wanting to slap them. Hang in there, you'll get rid of it!

aleta,

yes I have started taking the B12 daily. I think it's a good idea from reading about it.

Mariberry,

Wow, sounds like you have had difficult time of it, sorry you have been ill. I had same experience with the H1N1 vaccine. I went in healthy and came out sick. My DH took the same shot, a few weeks later after nursing me to health, and he, too, got sick from it. We realize they say we must have had a dormant virus, yet it seemed to be from the shots.

Here, we were the last people on earth to get the H1N1 and the flu shots, so we had to take both the flu shot, and the H1N1 shot, in both arms, and on the same day --so we think "never again" too. Our State of Mississippi was the last to get both shots. Never again!

Aleta,
I take a B12 every other day. I have a few medical conditions and take a host of vitamins, supplements and prescriptions, so one more is no big deal. When I told my doc I was going vegan, he immediately tested my B12, which came back low-normal - hence the every-other-day supplement. The one I take is a sublingual I got at Wal-mart. Embarassed I also eat plenty of nutritional yeast, but mostly cause it tastes good!

Hi Mariberry. I think this "thing" was just going around this year. Nearly everyone of my friends had it and those include a variety of eating types. Just yesterday two women I volunteer with were coughing and hacking and complaining about another round with the same thing that had been bothering them for weeks.

My DH and I both had it in Jan and Feb and we eat completely differently. Luckily no one around here felt it was eating that caused some people to get it and others not--mainly because it seemed everyone had it!!

I sure hope you are feeling better soon.

Linda

Those of you with ongoing cold/flu symptoms - please be careful.

My husband felt that way for 2 weeks and ended up in the hospital by ambulance because they thought he was having another heart attack. It was a type of pneumonia that had been missed by the regular tests. Only a chest x-ray showed it. It was on the verge of becoming VERY serious.

Molly, I think I will start taking it again. I don't like the nutritional yeast though. I did hide some in some soup I had at lunch one day and I didn't get that strong taste. Guess I'm odd man out here because I don't like it. Crying or Very sad

Aleta, I only like it if there's a lot of salt involved! *lol* By itself, the flavor is too strong, but with salt and other flavors, I love it.
