Growing herbs at home...
Posted Friday, January 1, 2010 at 6:26 PM

Does anyone grow their own herbs at home using the aerogarden by chance? I was wondering on the success of that? I would love to make fresh pesto (without cheese of course) and the stuff in the grocery stores is a shame during this time of the year!

Someone on one of my lists bought that aerogarden and LOVES it. Let us know how it goes for you.

Yes!! I purchased one as an Amazon Gold Box deal a couple of months ago and love it. I've made pesto from the basil, used the parsley for tonight's meal, and have used the other herbs as well. I purchased the 7 herb garden. I like it enough that I got a 3 herb garden for my brother-in-law primarily for growing basil since he's such a pesto freak.

If you decide to get one, really research their homesite to decide which one you want. And then be patient and pricewatch. They are always having sales, and Amazon is always putting them on sale as well.

Go for it--it's a purchase I've been very happy with. Easy set up, easy maintenance, and quick growth Smile

Thanks. It says to watch out for bugs and such. Did you have any problems? And, generally how long does it take the herbs to grow?

No problem at all with bugs so far. 4-9 days to sprout depending on the herb (most of mine sprouted more quickly), and the growth is quicker than herbs planted outside--it's noticeable daily once they have sprouted.
