Any suggestions on some healthy satisfying sweet snacks? I have such a problem saying no to those vegan cookies! I need something else!

Well, I say if you want vegan cookies, eat vegan cookies. Fruit's good, too, and here's a page full of vegan puddings, which I love: http://vegweb.com/index.php?board=248.0

Lara Bars are good and sweet. They are just fruit (mostly dates) and nuts and other whole-food ingredients like cocoa. No junk! I keep one in my bag for when fruit is not available or would be too messy (commuting).

Pitted dates are super sweet--and if you put an almond inside or chew one with a couple of cashews it tastes like a bite of pecan pie.

Yum! I love dates! Sweet grapes, a juicy peach or apple or pears! Have a bit of dark chocolate with a nice cup of hot tea. Take little bites and make it last.

Yes, those vegan treats like cookies and soy ice cream do call out. One great solution that works for me is not to "snack" but to have a mini-meal. If you eat when you are moderately hungry, you will be way more likely to succeed than if you wait until you are ravenous. So in between meals try a tortilla with some hummus and lettuce wrapped up, or a cup of soup, half a sandwich, a plate or brown rice, a baked potato topped with pepper or salsa (not margarine or any other fatty topping) or any other nutritious food (this would certainly include fruit as well). See if that does not quell your hunger and cravings.

How about some air popped popcorn. If you have onion powder, and nutritional yeast to season its healthy and delicious.

Some of the 100 cal. popcorns are vegan. I sometimes use the kettlekorn. While it's not the healthiest it is convenient for something like work. Combined with a small serving of fruit it can be very filling too.

Vegan Carob chips always hit the spot, I mix them with nuts, popcorn or soy yogurt. I also make buckwheat pancakes and put carob chips and strawberries and bananas on it. It makes feel like I am eating a strawberry shortcake/banana split. HEAVEN!

Today I had some vegan pate on toast as a snack. More highly processed than I normally eat, but I had a can in the cupboard and it sounded good. It was good.

I had a long chat this week with a guy who started a granola company with his friend in their apartment. It's vegan (except for the raisin nut flavor which has honey, but all the other flavors are vegan). It's organic, good, and not too sweet. You can look for it at many supermarkets now or order it online. It's called Feed. I'm all for supporting small businesses so I thought I'd let you guys know about it. www.FeedGranola.com

Here's my favorite sweet treat. I toast some whole grain toast (I love Ezekiel 4.9) top it with a little nut butter (right now I'm loving cashew butter, but any kind will do) and then slice a small apple and put it on top instead of jelly. The apple is just enough to satisfy my sweet craving and I get another serving of fruit too.

I made a pear fritter last night. It was: 3 pears diced 1/3 cup oatmeal (uncooked) 1/4 cup whole wheat flour cinnamon, brown sugar to taste vegan butter spread I just put the pears in a small baking pan. sprinkled the flour, oatmeal, cinnamon, brown sugar over pears and dropped some "butter" over it. Cover and bake until pears are soft. I also broiled it for about 5 minutes to make the top crunchy. You can make this as sweet as you want, just remember the sweater it is the more calories you will consume!
