1st day
Posted Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 12:44 PM

Yesterday was my first day on my journey to better health. Today however is my Birthday so we decided to go to breakfast. I thought to myself, I'll just order my usual breakfast and start fresh tomorrow. Well things happen for a reason and my husband and I had to laugh. We both order sausage and eggs....(I know) but when the order came the sausage was raw and the eggs were runny. We couldn't eat them even after sending them back. It still came back undone. I guess we were being told something (do you think?) The best part of this story is that my Husband has committed to this journey too. I couldn't believe it when he said he wanted to change is life too. I almost started crying. We talked for a long time at the table and are both excited and committed to this. We also decided to start doing more for the animals and volunteer to help all living things the best we can. Wish us luck!!

(And by the way, I'm an atheist, and I don't think anyone was telling you anything -- I think you just are an awesome person who made the best out of a bad situation. You rock.)

Great story! Helps me to remember that there will always be temptations (birthdays, holidays,anniversaries...groundhog day)and you will always have the choice of what you want to eat. When my habitual food vices rear up I try to say to myself "What do you want? And what do you REALLY want?" I want to be healthy and energized and I want to treat my body as the temple it is! Just as importantly, I want to do my part to stop the horrific slaughter of animals. I'm brand new to the vegan lifestyle, though I've been a cheese and dairy loving vegetarian for over 20 years. I hope this forum can be one of the tools in my box to keep me on the track to a simpler, more natural way of life.
