Question re Spinach Salad w/Orange Sesame Dressing
Posted Sunday, January 3, 2010 at 6:51 PM

I started making the dressing, and it says to toast 1 Tbsp of sesame seeds in a 400 degree toaster (or regular) oven. After 2 minutes in my toaster oven, the seeds were black, with smoke pouring out!! Surely, this can't be right?? Just wondering... I think I'll put them in on the toast setting until they turn slightly brown.

Thanks for the head's up! Seeds are very sensitive. I usually do mine on the stove top so I don't walk away, and I can keep a bird's eye view on their sensitive status.

Thanks Susan! In my original post, I forgot to mention that the recipe says to toast them for 10 minutes. I just don't think that under any circumstances, 10 minutes is right! Smile

Egads! I'll bring that to the attention to the recipe folks. I agree with your assessment having burned many a seed in my life.
