P90X as a vegan?
Posted Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 12:37 PM

Sorry guys, late to the party.

I have P90X and I want to do it but the food guide calls for some high protein intake. What modifications do you think I need to do to accommodate this intense workout?

You could probably add more beans, quinoa, lentils. Probably more nuts/nut butters as well.

Believe it or not, athletes who work out at high intensity levels require only slightly more protein - a level most Americans already surpass in a typical diet (vegan or not). So don't feel any pressure to spend extra money for extra protein. You should get it naturally by increasing your calories, which usually follows increasing activity level.

Go check out the Vegan Nutritionista site and see her famous vegans. Many, many athletes, olympians, etc. They don't need no meat or dairy!!! Neither do you Smile

Rip Esselstyn, the Engine 2 guy is a triathlete. You might go to the forum at his site and ask for information. I havent been there in a while so dont know how active it is.

Another thought are the Beachbody forums, altho they used to be heavy on advising for protein drinks.
