Counting Calories?

Has anyone lost weight eating vegan without counting calories? Did you have to follow this particular program to a T or just make sure everything you ate was veganized?

While getting the animal products out will help tremendously, at some point you will need to watch the fat that is creeping in via oils and other processed products. No need to count calories as long as you avoid the high-fat options.

If you're sticking to lots of non-starchy veggies (things like kale, broccoli, etc.), fruits, beans/lentils, and whole grains, you'll be full long before you max out your calories. Make sure that you're using whole foods and not convenience foods as much as possible and minimize use of higher fat foods even if they are vegan (nuts, avocado, etc.) Skip any added fats (learn to cook with water or broth, not oil, for example)

The hardest part is slowing down and learning to recognize what comfortably full/satisfied feels like, not 'stuffed'. And, too, learning what 'hungry' feels like - as opposed to thirsty, bored, tired, needing comfort.
