I need to spice up my beans

So I'm making beans from scratch now. That is great but I need some flavor. Some oomph in them. Does anyone have any suggestions for spices.

Tarragon! Adds an interesting, almost sweet flavor to beans.

what are you using them with? We cook our beans plain because they go in everything from chili to stir fry to soup (cook once, eat several times) - they get combined with ancho and chipotle chili powders, cumin, garlic, oregano/basil/thyme, curry, onion, and so on, so we don't so much season the beans themselves (since we rarely eat "just beans") but rather season them as part of the particular dish they are part of.

Tarragon sounds interesting. I will look that up thanks.
I'm putting them in burritos and eating them plain.
