RE: Sugar in almond milk

You've got read the labels to be sure you're getting additive (sugar)free Almond Milk. Some of the major brands have a label across the front that states it's unsweetened but not all of them do. I'm suffering through a container of sweetend almond milk right now... It tastes awful to me.

Cow's milk has sugar, lactose. A cup of 2% milk has 12g of sugar: http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/dairy-and-egg-products/71/2 Check out a label at the store. You can buy unsweetened almond milk. Takes a little getting used to because cow's milk is a tiny bit sweet, but it's a great option.

It won't be taken well simply because her Doctor, the expert in her life, has told her otherwise.

I would suggest simply buy her the book "Dr. Neal Barnard's Program for Reversing Diabetes: The Scientifically Proven System for Reversing Diabetes without Drugs."

I would say, "I care about you and I'm worried about you, I think this book may help you make some decisions about your health." The rest is up to her.

I know the heartache of watching someone you love eat themselves to death. It's sad, but unfortunately the only one that can make the change is them.

Janwood,

I'm really not sure if it's possible to move this thread to the 2012 forum. One of the others might know, but I don't think anyone can see us down here. We're trapped basically. I'm not even sure how we got down here.

Try sending Susan Levin a PM. I'll wait here.

21 day kick start results

Its a great day! We transitioned to the kickstart by adopting a vegetarian diet first for the two months leading up to it. Prior to that time, both my husband and I had a variety of health issues. Larry is a type II diabetic and has high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I have had high cholesterol, food allergies, blockage in my carotid artery and overweight. I'm scheduled to have back surgery in a week so I went in for a full physical. The results already are staggering. Ive lost 10 pounds, my bad cholesterol dropped in half! (it's currently 169), I just had an ultrasound on my carotid and the plaque is actually diminishing! My food allergies are gone and my energy level is high! Larry's total blood sugar had decreased by 30% and his rate of highs has dropped dramatically. He's going to see the doc to confirm cholesterol and blood pressure numbers this week! We are happy converts to this way of life! Thank you for literally saving our lives! :D

Travel is takes planning. Ask your hotels ahead of time for a mini-fridge. Plan to visit a grocery store and buy a few items that give you variety and give yourself permission to try non-traditional breakfast items. In the middle east, hummus is a common breakfast food. Many restaurants can accomodate needs if they know you're coming. Keep in mind they do a lot of prep long before the guests show up - I find that they appreciate the courtesy of having a little time to be creative.

The problem is I can't lose weight. In fact, I have gained about 12 pounds since May. I can't afford to gain weight.
