Susan Says: Beans are an excellent source of fiber: 7 grams per serving! If you are new to consuming adequate fiber, it may cause digestive distress. Try smaller beans, such as lentils and black-eyed peas at first; work your way up to bigger beans like pinto and kidney beans. Buy beans dried and soak them for a day. (Rinse the water off at least once). Cooking thoroughly and eating smaller portions at first will help too.
