Passion for Compassion in the Lone Star State
In February, PCRM members in Austin and Dallas, Texas, generously opened their homes to host fundraising events to support our programs and campaigns. President Neal Barnard, M.D., and senior medical adviser John Pippin, M.D., F.A.C.C., updated guests on our research and campaign efforts. It is truly a treat for our staff to have the opportunity to speak with members in person, and we are honored to welcome many new Texas members to our PCRM family. Our deep gratitude goes to Skip and Mary Trimble and Dennis and Peggy Corkran for their wonderful Texas hospitality!

Eat & Greet in Tucson
Lovin' SpoonfulsPeggy Raisglid hosted PCRM’s first Eat & Greet event on February 11 in her Tucson, Ariz., restaurant, Lovin’ Spoonfuls. Diners presented their coupons and a percentage of the bill was generously donated to PCRM. Thanks to everyone who came out to support PCRM. One couple drove two hours to participate! Don’t wait for the next event to enjoy the delicious vegan fare at Lovin’ Spoonfuls. For a menu, directions, and all the details, visit www.lovinspoonfuls.com.

Celebrity Apprentice
Actor Marilu HennerWe have been glued to the television Thursday nights as Marilu Henner battles it out week after week on Celebrity Apprentice. This season, contestants are not vying for a job with Donald Trump. Rather, the business-savvy celebrity contestants are working toward a greater goal—raising more than a million dollars for their favorite charities throughout the season. The final winner will deliver a $250,000 bonus check to their designated charity.

Longtime member Marilu Henner is playing for PCRM and its affiliate The Cancer Project. Marilu has written six books on nutrition and eating for health. Her husband, who had both bladder and lung cancer, credits the healthy diet Marilu prescribed for him with saving his life. Marilu supports PCRM’s research and educational programs, which focus on nutrition and preventive medicine.
