Ethical Cancer Research and Education
May 26, 2011

The Humane Charity Seal More than 2 million people are diagnosed with skin cancer each year in the United States alone, and I wanted to let you know about a charity that is tackling this issue in an effective and ethical way. TheSkin Cancer Foundation, spotlighted this month on theHumane Charity Seal of Approval website, has been working tirelessly since 1979 to reduce the incidence of skin cancer through humane research, public education, and outreach campaigns.

The Skin Cancer Foundation is just one of hundreds of health charities that have received the Humane Charity Seal of Approval, a unique certification that allows potential donors to quickly identify health charities that fund only humane, human-based research or patient services.

An estimated 115 to 127 million animals are currently used in experimental research worldwide. But a growing number of scientists believe that animal experimentation is both cruel and misguided. And more than 65 percent of adults surveyed said they would be more likely to donate to a health charity that had a policy of never funding animal experiments. Rest assured that charities with the Humane Seal never waste a dime on animal experiments.

Make sure to protect your health and the lives of animals by supporting Humane Seal-approved charities.
