PCRM Prepares for the Art of Compassion Gala 2007

The stars are aligned for the Art of Compassion gala on April 14. Master of Ceremonies Alec Baldwin will be joined by House star Lisa Edelstein, Marilu Henner, and Moby to host a black-tie reception and gourmet dinner for PCRM members and friends.

The Art of Compassion will take place at the historic Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C. The evening will feature a live performance by international music sensation Shani Rigsbee, a gourmet vegan meal featuring dishes from Sublime restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and the Millennium restaurant in San Francisco, and silent and live auctions. Items in the auction include scrubs signed by Henry Heimlich, M.D., Meryl Streep, and Noah Wyle, a one-week stay at Beaver Run Resort in Breckenridge, Colo., and a personalized portrait by artist Peter Max.

Three prestigious awards will also be presented during the evening: the Benjamin Spock Award for Compassion in Medicine, the Henry J. Heimlich Award for Innovative Medicine, and the Art of Compassion Award.

Several activities are also planned for the day of the gala: Marilu Henner and Chef Sualua Tupolo will present a Food for Life cooking class and tasting, professional Ironman triathlete Brendan Brazier and body-builder Kenneth Williams will lead a fitness training session, and The George Washington University Medical Center will join PCRM to present a continuing medical education seminar, Nutrition in Clinical Practice, for health care professionals.

Tickets for the gala are still available. We hope that you can join us for a fun evening!
