PCRM Debuts Three New TV Spots Starring Member Doctors
Help is on the way for every hamburger-addicted kid in America. PCRM is pleased to announce the release of three new TV public service announcements, all promoting vegetarian diets.
Filmed last summer in Washington, D.C., by the award-winning director Roger Vilsack, the PSAs star actual PCRM member physicians. Each of the three spots tackles childhood obesity in a clever and unique way. All three feature a voiceover by TV star, author, and longtime health advocate Marilu Henner.

“House Call”
A take-off on many of the popular makeover shows, this spot features Aysha Akhtar, M.D., Neal Barnard, M.D., Michele Dodman, D.O., Daran Haber, M.D., and Stephen Stigers, M.D., coming to the rescue of a mother frantic with worry about her son’s risky eating habits.

“Chubby’s”
Fast-food joints have never seen the like of doctors Zarin Azar, Daran Haber, Milton Mills, Ana Negrón, and Carol Tavani. These guardian angels make over a greasy spoon, exchanging fruits and veggies for burgers and fries.

“Dangerous”
In this simple, yet powerful spot, doctors Zarin Azar, Neal Barnard, Milton Mills, and Carol Tavani tell it like it is: “The most dangerous thing our kids have to deal with today isn’t drugs. It isn’t violence. It’s unhealthy food.”

Each PSA also offers the viewer a toll-free number and website address (www.kidsgethealthy.org) through which they can order a free copy of a new PCRM booklet on healthy nutrition for kids.
The PSAs will be distributed to TV stations throughout the country during the coming year. Let us know if you’d like a VHS copy for your office! Contact PSA manager Patricia Howard phoward@pcrm.org.
Thank you, Doctors Caroline Amador, Aysha Athktar, Zarin Azar, Michele Dodman, Daran Haber, Milton Mills, Ana Negrón, Stephen Stigers, and Carol Tavani. We couldn’t have done it without you.
