Chinese and American Celebs Launch Kickstart China
Basketball player Jeremy Lin isn’t the only celebrity who is hot in China right now. PCRM’s 21-Day Healthy Challenge, which began March 5, is packed with A-list celebs: Actress Gao Yuanyuan, singer Qu Quan Cheng, and NBA champion John Salley are helping Chinese-speaking people around the world improve their health with a plant-based diet this month.
Traditional Chinese diets are being inundated with fast food and other unhealthful meat and dairy products: McDonald’s expects to open a restaurant a day in China for the next three to four years. These unhealthful foods are driving obesity and diabetes rates through the roof. But the Healthy Challenge’s meat- and dairy-free versions of traditional Chinese recipes can help reverse this trend.
The Healthy Challenge, offered in Mandarin, is a free program based on the 21-Day Vegan Kickstart program that has helped more than 200,000 Americans lose weight and improve their health with a low-fat, plant-based diet.
Healthy Challenge will give participants 21 daily e-mail messages that provide an all-access pass to:
- Three weeks of meat- and dairy-free recipes for traditional Chinese favorites
- Cooking demonstration videos
- Nutrition webcasts
- Tips and words of inspiration from celebrity coaches and nutrition experts
