Physician and Author Inducted into South High Hall of Fame
Neal D. Barnard, M.D., to Lecture in Fargo on 15 September

Washington, D.C.—Fargo South High School will honor physician and best-selling author Neal D. Barnard, M.D., with induction into its Hall of Fame at a ceremony on Saturday 14 September. Dr. Barnard will also discuss his most recent work at a free lecture and book signing at the Fargo Barnes & Noble the next day.

A member of Fargo South High School class of 1971, Dr. Barnard is the author of six books, including Foods That Fight Pain, Food for Life and, most recently, Turn Off the Fat Genes. He is also the founder and president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., that promotes preventive medicine and higher standards in research.

Dr. Barnard’s research has appeared in numerous prestigious scientific publications including American Journal of Cardiology, Preventive Medicine, and Scientific American. He is also much in demand as a speaker and for media interviews while traveling widely on book and lecture tours. “South High was a great place to get grounded in sciences, writing and speaking skills--and all the other tools that I’ve needed to draw on,” says Dr. Barnard.

Free lecture on the latest discoveries in healthful eating:
2:00 p.m., Sunday 15 September 2002
Barnes & Noble, 1201 42nd St. SW, Fargo, North Dakota

Interviews: Dr. Barnard is available for interviews in person on 13-15 September or via phone before or after then. Contact Jeanne Stuart McVey at 202-686-2210, ext. 316, or at jeannem@pcrm.org.

Founded in 1985, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) is a nonprofit organization that promotes preventive medicine, particularly good nutrition, and conducts clinical research trials. PCRM also promotes higher standards in research.
