Amy Jasperse has been a retail pharmacist for 28 years and a diabetes care and education specialist since 2009. She is a West Virginia native who completed pharmacy school in Michigan. After working in the Cincinnati and northern Kentucky area for several years, she decided to come home to help tackle the epidemics of obesity and diabetes in southern West Virginia. In December 2019, she began working at Robert C. Byrd Clinic in Lewisburg, W.V., and started an accredited diabetes education center there. She also helped start a culinary medicine elective at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. She is currently pursuing a certification in culinary medicine. Amy is especially interested in reversing diabetes through plant-based eating.
