Dr. Kerri Scarbrough is a retired optometrist and graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry. She earned her doctorate in optometry from the University of Houston.

She was selected for the residency at American Lake and Seattle Veterans Administration hospitals. Residency training is awarded to only a handful of optometrists. As a resident, she taught students and saw geriatric, hospital-based, and psychiatric patients, advancing her skills in medical optometry. She has served the Puget Sound area for more than 25 years. Among her roles were directing the Seattle low-income eye clinic and working with a downtown Seattle surgeon.

She has urged patients to consider healthier eating since watching Diet for a New America and adopting a near-vegan lifestyle in 1992.
