Sharan Abdul Rahman, MD
Dr. Abdul Rahman is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist. She graduated from Yale Medical School and completed her residency at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.
Dr. Abdul Rahman has been in practice for more than 25 years and has worked in a number of clinical settings. She has been involved in teaching doctors in both Namibia and Somaliland. She currently has a boutique private gynecology practice in Center City Philadelphia.
While she sees women of all ages, her focus is midlife (ages 40-64 years) female pelvic, vaginal, and sexual health, including female issues such as low libido, abnormal uterine bleeding, and hot flashes/night sweats commonly present in this age group.
Using food, specifically a plant-based diet, as medicine has become an integral part to how she practices.
Her current interest under study is whether a plant-based diet can help alleviate symptoms such as dysmenorrhea and excessive uterine bleeding in women with fibroid tumors.
