This 7-class Cancer Project Series: The Power of Food for Cancer Prevention and Survival from the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) guides learners to make the critical connection between diet and the risk of developing various forms of cancer. With a focus on low-fat plant-based nutrition, participants develop an understanding of specific foods and nutrients that either promote or discourage cancer development. Each class features a cooking demonstration of delicious, health-promoting dishes, along with handouts of easy and affordable recipes participants can prepare at home.

- Class 2: Fueling Up on Low-Fat Foods, July 25
- Class 3: Favoring Fiber, Aug 1
- Class 4: Discovering Dairy Alternatives, Aug 8
- Class 5: Replacing Meat, Aug 15
- Class 6: Cancer-Fighting Compounds and Immune-Boosting Foods, Aug 22
- Class 7: Maintaining a Healthy Weight, Aug 29
- BONUS Class: Foods and Breast Cancer Survival, Sep 5
Length: 2 hours
Format: Part 1: Nutritional education and Part 2: Cooking demonstration, we will be cooking 3 recipes each class.
Who is this class for? The intended audience for this series includes cancer survivors and their family and friends as well as individuals looking to prevent cancer. Classes are not meant for individuals currently undergoing cancer treatment.
