Overview: In this class, which is part of the Cancer Project Series: The Power of Food for Cancer Prevention and Survival from the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), we will take a look at how dietary fat not only hinders the immune system, but also drives hormone production, which can mean higher rates of hormone-related cancers such as breast and prostate cancer.
We’ll explore how fiber helps the body rid itself of toxins, waste hormones, excess cholesterol, chemicals, and other undesirables and why that’s important for the immune system. We’ll also look at what happens when we don’t eat enough fiber and why a low-fat, high fiber, whole foods plant-based diet is a protective and preventative diet.
During the class, you’ll learn how to make three easy and delicious recipes low in fat and high in fiber. Participants will also receive before and after class literature, handouts and a copy of all three recipes demonstrated in class.
