Half a century ago, the United States declared a “war on cancer,” yet current statistics predict that during our lifetime, one in eight women will develop breast cancer. Research has shown that more than one-third of all cancer deaths in the United States are due to poor diet, yet most people are unaware of this connection. Faced with these startling statistics, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) developed the Food for Life: Let’s Beat Breast Cancer curriculum based on our groundbreaking Cancer Project curriculum.

The first four Let’s Beat Cancer classes include information about how certain foods and nutrients work to promote or discourage growth of cancers of all types (including breast cancer), along with demonstrations of simple and delicious plant-based recipes that can be easily re-created at home. The final class focuses specifically on foods relevant to breast cancer risk reduction and survival.

PCRM instructor Elaine Jumes is proud to partner up with Relish Kitchen Store to bring the award-winning Food For Life program to Sheboygan. She is a long-time "farsighted foodie," dedicated to helping people reduce their diet-related chronic diseases through diet and lifestyle changes. To learn more about Ms. Jumes, you can visit her website at: www.FarsightedFoodie.com. The Food for Life classes taught at Relish provide excellent resources to learn how to use food to reduce your risk of getting cancer, or of having a recurrence if you’re a survivor who has completed treatment.

This series will be offered on 5 consecutive Wednesdays this fall. Sign up for the whole series ($38/class), or join individual classes of your choosing ($40/class).

By purchasing this series, you will have a seat reserved in each of the following educational classes. Each class will feature a video, educational tools, discussion, and the opportunity to taste plant-based dishes during a cooking demonstration.
