Why Take This Class

Both diet and the body’s immune system are critically important in preventing and fighting cancer. Cancer-fighting compounds such as antioxidants, mainly found in fruits and vegetables, assist in halting free-radical damage, which can otherwise lead to cancer development. Healthy weight control is also essential for warding off a variety of chronic diseases. Studies have shown that slimmer people are less likely to develop cancer compared to their heavier counterparts. Trimming excess weight may also improve survival after cancer has been diagnosed. In this class, you'll learn how to choose ingredients and create healthful dishes loaded with immune-boosting nutrients such as beta-carotene, lycopene, vitamin C, and zinc as part of your  naturally healthy weight maintenance and a cancer-fighting nutritional regime.


In this Food for Life class, you’ll learn how certain foods and nutrients work to promote or discourage the growth of cancers of all types, explore a variety of plant-based sources of protein, all of which are low in fat, high in fiber, and loaded with cancer-fighting nutrients, and enjoy cooking along in your own kitchen with simple recipes that we’ll make together.​
