Laurie Altman
Food for Life Instructor
Laurie has a passion for cooking that began at a young age. In 2015, she discovered the benefits of a Whole Food Plant-Based diet. Wanting to avoid the lifestyle diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease, that plagued her parents and grandparents, she completely revamped her diet, eliminating all animal products and processed foods. Laurie lost 50 pounds and saw an improvement in her lipid levels and A1C. Her friends and family saw her impressive results and several asked for help transitioning to a WFPB diet. After seeing how well her friends did under her guidance, Laurie decided to train as a Health Coach specializing in Whole Food Plant-Based transition and support. Her desire is to help people take charge of their health by not only adopting a WFPB diet but understanding how foods affect our bodies and our health. Of course, she loves sharing easy and delicious plant-based recipes. Laurie holds the following certifications: Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, Institute for Integrative Nutrition; Plant-Based Nutrition Certification, eCornell and T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies; Plant-Based Certification, Rouxbe Cooking School. Prior to becoming a health coach, Laurie practiced law for over 30 years.
