Exercise Not Helpful for Weight Loss

Exercise can provide many health benefits, but weight loss is not necessarily one of them, according to a recent study published in Population Health Metrics. Researchers found that obesity levels have risen over the past decade despite an increase in physical activity in the U.S. population. Nine years of data from two large-scale health surveys indicated little correlation between obesity and physical activity. For every 1 percent increase in physical activity, obesity rates declined by only one-tenth of a percent. The researchers concluded that exercise alone is not enough to address this growing health crisis.
