Fruits and Vegetables May Prevent Childhood Asthma
Childhood nutrition plays a key role in the development of several diseases. A Mediterranean diet high in plant-based foods and low in saturated fat is associated with a lower risk of having asthma, with fruits and vegetables having a particularly protective effect, according to a new meta-analysis.1 Asthma is a chronic inflammatory condition, and the antioxidants in fruits and vegetables may be the reason for their protective effect. 2
