Obesity Problem Not Improving in U.S.

The obesity problem in the U.S. did not improve over the last two years, according to a report published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The governmental survey gathered BMI data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES) from 1999-2016 and showed 39.8 percent of adults and 18.5 percent of children were obese. Results also indicated higher prevalence rates among middle-aged adults (40 to 59 years) and older youth (12 to 19 years). Current obesity rates remain higher than goals set by the Healthy People 2020 initiative and show no signs toward decline.
