Plant-Based Diet Improves Body Composition Among People With Osteoarthritis

A group of people with metabolic-syndrome-associated osteoarthritis were found to benefit from a plant-based diet, according to an analysis of data from the “Plants for Joints” trial. Sixty-four study participants were randomized to a whole food, plant-based diet with physical activity and stress management or a control group that made no lifestyle changes for 16 weeks. The lifestyle group significantly reduced their body fat while maintaining muscle mass and bone mineral density.
