Prepregnancy Weight of Mom Affects Offspring's Risk of Dying
Children of overweight women are more likely to die from heart disease or stroke in adulthood, according to research presented at the American Heart Association’s Scientific Sessions. Researchers followed 879 participants from the Framingham Heart Study Offspring cohort for 41 years. Those with overweight mothers were 90 percent more likely to die from heart disease, compared with those whose mothers were normal weight.
