Risk of Reflux Is Lowered by Eating Plant-Based Foods

A new study adds evidence to the connection between diet and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Adults in Saudi Arabia had their diet patterns analyzed, and their risk of GERD calculated using the GerdQ questionnaire. Plant foods, like legumes, nuts, and seeds, were correlated with a low risk of GERD, while animal-based foods, notably organ meat, were associated with an increased risk.
