Automated Monitoring of Organ-on-Chip Models

A new research platform for organ-on-chips has been developed that allows for simultaneous, real-time, continuous, automated monitoring of physiological responses to drugs.

Study in a Sentence: A new research platform for organ-on-chips has been developed that allows for simultaneous, real-time, continuous, automated monitoring of physiological responses to drugs. This approach can integrate multiple existing organ-on-chip systems (e.g., heart, liver, immune system), which are miniature devices designed to mimic human tissues and organs in 3-D.

Healthy for Humans: This new integrated multisensory platform enhances the performance of organ-on-chip models for drug screening and personalized medicine by providing new kind of data that informs of drug responses in the human body that was not previously possible before.

Redefining Research: Technological advances in organ-on-chip models make these tools for scientific studies more capable and readily adaptable to replace less physiological or human-relevant models for drug testing, such as 2-D cell cultures and animal models.
