New Chemical Testing Method Better than Animal Tests

A new study published in Environmental Health Perspectives describes a method to more effectively characterize how different individuals respond to chemical exposures, highlighting potentially sensitive individuals or populations that may require stricter controls on chemical use. Such testing methods are essential, because differences between humans due to genetic variation, health status, and environmental factors can greatly influence potential responses to chemical exposures. This is an improvement over animal tests for chemical safety, as animals do not reflect human responses or human population variability.
