With advancements in DNA research, we are revisiting what we thought we knew about what’s populating our digestive tract and where new discoveries are taking us.

Gut bacteria expert Hana Kahleova, M.D., Ph.D., returns to take a deep dive into the latest research with “The Weight Loss Champion” Chuck Carroll.

Join them to learn how a healthy gut can automatically give athletes more than a 20 percent cardiovascular fitness edge over their competition. Dr. Kahleova also shares the newest research linking weight loss to gut bacteria and talks about the best foods you can eat to get your gut in check!

Courtney Flannery then joins Chuck to recount her years as a true medical mystery. Her journey began when she became ill as a teenager and lasted for nearly a decade. Doctor after doctor was baffled by her condition. No answers were to be had despite receiving nearly a dozen different diagnoses: Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome with constipation, fibromyalgia, dysautonomia, chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic migraines, anxiety and depression, prediabetes, and hypoglycemia, among others.

All the while, Courtney’s weight would swing wildly, and she was being bullied by her peers. By the time she was in her early 20s, the physical and emotional toll left her frail body unable to walk without the assistance of a cane or wheelchair. Everything came to a head on one fateful day when she collapsed on the floor of a convention. Many, including her own mother, believed death would not be far behind.

Ever resilient and unwilling to die, Courtney began the painstaking process of investigating her condition and searching for a cure. Eventually, she stumbled upon research on the benefits of a plant-based diet, including some conducted by the Physicians Committee. Following years of frustrating battles and a near-death experience, the pieces of the puzzle started coming together and her fortunes began to turn around once she changed her eating habits.

Courtney is now living healthfully and happily without any assistance from a cane — something once believed to be impossible. It’s a can’t-miss story!
